Version 2 — effective
AloxBook is published and licensed by Alois Hartl. Full legal details are available in the Imprint.
Permission to use
Any person or organization may install and use AloxBook free of charge, including for personal, organizational, or commercial purposes.
The terms of licence revision 2 remain applicable to every AloxBook version provided under them. A later licence revision applies only to versions provided under that later revision and does not change the terms for versions already received.
Proprietary software
AloxBook is proprietary software. This licence does not grant access to source code or permission to modify the software.
Third-party components
AloxBook includes third-party components. Those components are governed by their own licence notices and terms, not by this AloxBook licence; see THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt included with the software.
Redistribution
Unmodified official AloxBook installers and standalone distribution packages may be redistributed. Modification, bundling, resale, or publication as another publisher's package is not permitted.
The restrictions in this licence apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law and do not limit rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Product scope
AloxBook is not certified or represented as suitable for statutory accounting, tax returns, payroll, audits, or professional accounting services.
Files, encryption, and connectivity
Password protection is optional. When a password is set, SQLCipher encrypts the book with AES-256; without a password, the book is an unencrypted SQLite database. Forgotten passwords cannot be recovered.
No AloxBook account or built-in cloud synchronization is required. The app does not transmit book contents, financial records, or passwords; enabled or manual update checks contact aloxbook.com with the app version, platform, and standard web-request data.

User responsibilities
You are responsible for keeping regular backups, protecting your password, checking the accuracy of results, and deciding whether AloxBook is appropriate for your purpose.
Disclaimer of warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AloxBook is provided “as is” without express or implied warranties, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Alois Hartl is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, data loss or corruption, or financial loss arising from use of or inability to use AloxBook. Nothing excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death, personal injury, or damage to health.
Support
The licence does not include an entitlement to support, maintenance, updates, or fixes.
Support is based on the latest stable AloxBook release. Please update first when possible and include the AloxBook version, operating system, what you expected, what happened, and steps that reproduce the problem.
Support and security reports are reviewed on a best-effort basis. No response or resolution is guaranteed, no response or correction time is promised, and there is no maintenance commitment.
Messages are accepted in English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian; replies may use translation assistance.
Do not send passwords, .aloxbook files, bank statements, or unredacted financial screenshots.

Governing law
Austrian law applies. Where applicable, this choice does not deprive consumers of the protection provided by provisions that cannot be excluded by agreement under the law of the country where they habitually reside. Jurisdiction is determined by mandatory law. If one term is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply.
